The Painter

Every evening about this same time You may hear music playin' over and over And hear the same words until they all rhyme Haunting on and on The Painter So he picks up his guitar once again And beats out a melody to please his friends And he doesn't know exactly what to do He just wants to please me and you He's just a painter A painter of words Hear his sweet guitar as he lays down the colors He doesn't know himself But he does know others The Painter Today he walks down that same old street again And in the cold he stops at every single bend And he wants to wrap the words all around you You know why Because he loves you
