The Long Ride

I started out living for Jesus many years ago He gave me His love and I gave Him my heart and my soul Some folks said that I'd never make it But I guess that they must've been wrong Cause He's still got control of my life And I'm still going strong Don't wanna be a sudden sensation Don't wanna be a one night stand You know I'm gonna live forever You might say I'm a long-term man Cause I made a commitment I'm standing on the Lord's side And I'm not turning back Cause I'm in it for the long ride I can't say it's always been easy, but that's okay Well discipleship costs and I've always been willing to pay Sometimes it's been a bit of a burden But He has helped me to carry the load And we're still traveling side by side Down that narrow road Chorus I've put a lot of miles behind, but there are still some more to come And when I reach the end the Lord will still be number one
